JORDAN, TOM AND SANDY
We respectfully request that the details of this story are not shared outside this evening for confidentiality reasons.
Seven year old Jordan is a funny, chatty young boy who lives with his grandmother and older brother. Jordan’s mum and dad are in and out of his life with no consistency or support. His nan felt that a positive role model in his life would make a big difference.
He was on our waitlist for a long time and was over the moon the day we told him he had not one but two mentors that wanted to be a part of his life. He has bundles of energy, so Jordan was matched with Thomas and Sandy, a wonderful couple with the energy to match.
Sales manager Sandy and engineering student Tom are recent returnees from Australia, Sandy’s home country. Sandy and Tom had great role models growing up, and felt that they would be able to give something similar to a young person in Auckland.
During their match meets, they do many outdoor activities, including hiking and spending time in Tom and Sandy’s garden.
On our case manager’s last visit to Jordan, he announced that he wanted to be a chef and grow his food to feed all the people in the world. Tom and Sandy are having a fantastic time with Jordan, and we have been so proud to see the changes he has made over the past six months of the match.
